Membership - Lacrosse Canada

Our Role

Founded in 1867, Lacrosse Canada (formerly the Canadian Lacrosse Association) is the governing body responsible for all aspects of lacrosse in Canada. Our organization is comprised of 11 Member Associations (MA's) representing nearly 80,000 individual participants, including coaches, officials, and athletes of all ages and abilities.

Lacrosse Canada works together with its MA’s to develop programs and offer services that can be delivered locally through to clubs and teams across the country. Lacrosse Canada establishes standardized programs and resources in areas such as athlete development, coach training and development, official training and development, and event organization. We also oversee the planning and execution of our historic national championships and work behind the scenes to help raise the profile of the sport through marketing and communications initiatives.

When athletes, coaches, and officials are selected to represent Canada, Lacrosse Canada is responsible for supporting them, both administratively and financially, as they participate in a variety of events sanctioned by World Lacrosse, the international governing body for our sport. Over the years, Canada has experienced tremendous success on the international stage, consistently reaching the podium in all disciplines of the sport.

Because of our status as an NSO, we regularly interact with external partners (Coaching Association of Canada, Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, True Sport, etc.) to ensure that people across Canada playing lacrosse can do so in a safe and inclusive environment. We are also able to leverage our position as the national governing body to solicite corporate sponsorship that in turn benefits all of our participants, from grass roots to high performance.
