DELMOR JACOBS
Delmor Jacobs -Dao Jao Dre - served as a Director to the Canadian Lacrosse Foundation (the “CLF”) from January 2007 to June 2017. Delmor provided invaluable traditional Indigenous perspective to the CLF during his tenure. He had a deep involvement with the game as a player and a coach. Delmor participated as a player in the 1980 World Box Lacrosse Championship - the first box event of its kind. As a Cayuga Faith-keeper, he understood the game as a medicine game, and he shared his knowledge through presentations and print. His contribution to the Board of Directors was meaningful.
Trifon Chaitis was an original Director with the Canadian Lacrosse Foundation (the “CLF”) from November 2006 until his passing in September 2021. Although never having played the game he gained a love of the sport through serving as a volunteer. His contributions to the Foundation were numerous. At the date of his death, he was serving as CLF Treasurer and member of the Investment Committee. During the 150th Anniversary of Lacrosse held in Montreal in 2017, Trifon took on an active role in the celebration and his participation in all our board activities exemplified the character and demeanour that garnished respect from everyone.
Trifon’s life away from the Foundation was filled with kindness and respect for others. When he passed away, 124 individuals left comments on his obituary page filled with stories and appreciation for all he had done for them. Trifon and his wife Kiki ran a successful annual golf tournament with the proceeds supporting two charities - Antonio’s Toy Drive and Camp Oochigeas for kids affected by childhood cancer.
