Terry Rayner Appointed Executive Director of Lacrosse Canada
Oshawa, ON - Lacrosse Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Terry Rayner as the new Executive Director. With 20 years of experience with the National Team and two years at the Lacrosse Canada office, Terry's proven track record makes him an ideal fit for this role.
Terry brings a wealth of experience, combining his backgrounds in law enforcement and lacrosse, which uniquely positions him as a strong leader for Lacrosse Canada. Terry's involvement with Lacrosse Canada began in 2002, when he represented the National Team at the Men’s World Championships in Australia. Over the next 20 years, he played an integral role with the National Team before transitioning to the position of Director of National Championships and National Teams in 2022. Most recently, Terry has served as Interim Executive Director for the past nine months. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the lacrosse landscape, combined with his passion for the sport, position him as the ideal candidate to lead Lacrosse Canada into its next phase of growth and development.
“We are thrilled to welcome Terry Rayner as our Executive Director,” said Shawn Williams, President of the Lacrosse Canada Board of Directors. “Terry’s proven track record in sports leadership, his strategic vision, and his commitment to community engagement will be invaluable assets as we work to expand the reach of lacrosse across Canada. His passion for the sport and understanding of its cultural importance to Canadian communities make him an outstanding choice to lead the organization,” added Board Member Marisa Di Bari.
His appointment comes at a crucial time for Lacrosse Canada, as the sport continues to gain popularity and prominence at both the grassroots and high-performance levels. With lacrosse officially recognized as an Olympic sport, the next four years are crucial as we build towards the 2028 Olympics. His leadership will focus on building relationships with Provincial Sports Organizations, external partners, athletes, and members, while also developing and launching strategic/organizational plans for the next quadrennial (2025-2028), and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“I am honored to take on the role of Executive Director at Lacrosse Canada,” said Terry Rayner. “I am thrilled to continue working with our National Summer Sport at the local, provincial, national, and international levels, and remain committed to advancing the growth and development of lacrosse across all areas of the game."
Lacrosse Canada is eager to support Terry in his permanent role as they continue building a strong team to help grow the country’s National Summer Sport.
