Men's Team prevails over USA

Sep. 25, 2024

Once again the Canadian men prevailed against the U.S. in the box game after a 14-10 victory Tuesday night to secure top spot in Pool A.

The stage was set for a pivotal game as two, 2-0 teams clashed for a chance to go undefeated in the round robin.

The first quarter only saw two goals that came in the final two minutes of the quarter, one aside.

The second quarter was much different as both teams had a three-goal run, resulting in a Team Canada lead of 8-7 at halftime.

In the third, Canada would use a four-goal run to widen their lead and not look back. Shane Jackson had a highlight-reel goal with a dunk from behind the net while killing a penalty.

Jeff Teat was unstoppable against the U.S., recording four goals and three assists. Dhane Smith also scored four goals and added one assist on the night. Jackson put up a hat trick with one assist and Josh Byrne capped off the scoring with five assists.

Starting goalie Christian Del Bianco made 36 stops on 46 shots.

Canada will await their quarter final opponent after play-in matches take place on Wednesday. Quarter finals begin on Thursday.
