Lacrosse Legends- Dana Dobbie

Sep. 11, 2024

Dana Dobbie is a Canadian Women’s Lacrosse Legend in both the field and the box games. She has seen incredible growth in the Women’s Program under her leadership, which really goes back to 2001 when she first tried out for the U19 National Team. She was made Captain of that team and has been the Captain of all the National Teams ever since. She also made the All World Team for the first of many selections that same year.

Her NCAA experience started at Ohio University in 2003 until she transferred to the University of Maryland after an injury. While at Maryland she was a finalist for the Tewaaraton trophy in both 2007 and 2008. This was among many accolades sent her way during her collegiate career.

Her playing experience is now with the Pro League and she has just made part of the first Women’s Box National team that will be competing in the first World Championship. Under Dana’s leadership, Canada started out winning Bronze Medals and progressed to Silver in 2013 and finally capturing a Gold Medal at the 2022 World Game 6’s, beating the USA.

Her knowledge of the game is unparalleled and this was drawn on by World Lacrosse who made her a member of the Blue Skies Working Group that developed 6’s. She was also made the first ever Athlete’s Commission Vice Chair by World Lacrosse from 2019-2022.

Since 2008 until now she has been the Assistant Coach at Loyola University of Maryland.

Quite frankly, her story will stand out forever in Canadian Lacrosse history.
