Official in Charge and Assistant Official in Charge Announced for the Sixes Sector

[Toronto, Ontario] - The Sixes Sector of Lacrosse Canada is delighted to announce the appointment of Lyndsay Brooks as the Official in Charge of the Sixes Sector, alongside Mike Drake as the Assistant Official in Charge. This significant leadership team will bring their extensive experience and dedication to the task, providing excellent oversight for the sector’s officiating program. 

 

Lyndsay Brooks, of the Ontario Lacrosse Association, has been an invaluable member of the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse League for many years, demonstrating exceptional skills and expertise in officiating and development of the game. She has officiated Sixes at the international level and brings a wealth of knowledge and a steadfast commitment to the game of lacrosse, making her a perfect fit for this role. Brooks will oversee the strategic direction and development of the Sixes Sector officiating program, ensuring its growth and success. 

 

Mike Drake, of the Ontario Lacrosse Association, also joins the Sixes Sector leadership team with a remarkable background in officiating. He has previously worked with Lyndsay Brooks, fostering an exceptional partnership that will contribute to the sector's advancement. Mike will play a crucial role in supporting Lyndsay and working collaboratively to address the unique needs and opportunities within the fledgling Sixes Sector officiating program. 

 

Sixes Sector Chair Wendy Cuthbert expressed enthusiasm for the new leadership appointments, stating, "We are pleased to welcome Lyndsay Brooks as the Official in Charge and Mike Drake as the Assistant Official in Charge for the Sixes Sector. Their combined expertise and dedication to the game of lacrosse will undoubtedly contribute to the sector’s success. We have the utmost confidence in their abilities to guide the Sixes Sector Officiating program’s growth and development as we prepare for the LA28 Olympic Games." 

 

Lacrosse Canada’s Chair of the Officiating Committee, Steve O’Shaughnessy, provided his welcome to the appointees, stating, “The Officials Committee and I are excited for the appointments of Lyndsay and Mike. Their experience and leadership will align with our vision of growing the SIXES game and the overall Officiating program.  I want to thank all those who applied and look forward to working with Lyndsay and Mike as we move forward here in Canada and now, excitedly, with the next phase of our acceptance into the 2028 Summer Olympics.” 

 

We would also like to thank Scott McMullen, the Lacrosse Nova Scotia representative, who served as the Interim Official in Charge during the transition period.
