Canada Falls to USA in WLMC Final

San Diego CA-

The Canadian Men’s National Team fell to the USA by a score of 10-7 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego in a game that concluded the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship. It was a tight affair where both teams left everything on the field. Canada and USA have met in the last 6 finals of the World Championship, and each one has left their mark in the history books. This year's chapter was no different.

The game began with USA getting out to an early lead but Canada fought back twice to tie the game. By mid third quarter the game was tied 4-4. Brennan O’Neill turned out to be the difference maker in the game as he scored 5 goals, including 1 late on to put USA up 9-7, a lead which they would not look back from. Leading the way for Canada was Josh Byrne and Dhane Smith.

Canada leaves this tournament with the silver medal. It was still a great two weeks for Canada as they were able to overcome multiple challenges that were thrown at them. With wins over Australia, England, Jamaica, and the Haudenosaunee twice.

USA claims the gold, Canada the silver, and Haudenosaunee the Bronze. Canada will look to bounce back and reclaim the gold in 4 years time.
