Canada dominant in semi-final game, defeats Australia 19-1 to advance to gold medal game

Limerick, IRE—Canada ran away with the semi-final game against Australia on Thursday, putting up a dominant 19-1 performance.

 

The high-scoring game sat at 19-0 until the last minutes, when Australia got one past goaltender Aden Walsh.

 

The first semi-final of the tournament, the win sends Canada to their sixth straight gold medal match in. the event. Canada will play the winner of the second semi-final game, United States vs. Haudenosaunee.

 

Owen Hiltz (5G, 1A) and Ross Scott (4G, 2A) each put up yet another dominant offensive performance. The two currently sit at eighth and fifth, respectively, in the tournament in point totals with 23 and 26.

 

Graydon Hogg (3G), Noah Manning (2G, 1A), Thomas McConvey (2G), Sam English (1G, 3A), Adam Poitras (1G, 1A), Josh Fairey (1G), Brock Haley (4A), and Michael Grace (1A) also made their way to the scoresheet.

 

Bo Columbus’ 10 face-off wins move him to third in the tournament with a 63 per cent win record.

 

Canada will compete for gold on Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m. IST.
