Ottawa, ON — As COVID-19 restrictions across Canada loosen, Lacrosse Canada’s national teams are looking forward to attending training camps and competitions.
Attendance at all events will be dependent on health and safety regulations at both the provincial and national level.
The Men’s Field Lacrosse U21 World Championship, which has been rescheduled twice since 2019, is set to be held in Ireland in August 2022. A date for the next ID camp has yet to be identified.
A Senior Men’s team will also represent Canada at the annual USA Lacrosse Fall Classic in Towson, Maryland, and play against Team USA. The Fall Classic is scheduled for Oct. 15-17, 2021.
The Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championship is also set to take place in 2022, in Towson, Maryland. Lacrosse Canada plans to hold the first identification camp for this team in August in Oshawa. Selected athletes will be asked to participate in the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic in October.
With the excitement around the new 6v6 discipline, a competition between Canada and the USA is scheduled for October 22-24 in Towson, Maryland. Lacrosse Canada will send both a senior men’s lacrosse team and a senior women’s lacrosse team to compete in the event.
Lacrosse Canada appreciates that the lacrosse community is excited for lacrosse practices, games and international competitions to resume. It is important to note that Canada’s participation in these events will only proceed in accordance with governmental and sport regulations to ensure the safety of our athletes, coaches and volunteers.
