Canada Wins Game Three at World Indoors Against Israel
Langley, BC— On Saturday evening, Team Canada played Team Israel and came away with a 17-5 win. This was Canada’s third game at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Langley, BC. Canada beat the USA in game one 16-6 and England in game two 18-5.
The first quarter was low scoring, with Canada leading 3-1. In the second quarter, it starting picking up with Canada scoring six more goals and Israel scoring their first goal. For Canada, Christian Del Bianco was in nets with an 80 save percentage. This was Canada’s third win with a final score of 17-5. Ben Mcintosh had seven assists, Eli Mclaughlin had five assists, and Dane Dobbie scored four goals.
“We’ve really been conscious of not getting into bad habits. We’re building towards the finals, and the matches that are really going to test us,” shared Glenn Clark, head coach of Team Canada. “Our goal is to make sure we’re doing things the right way and we’re habit forming so it translates to the elimination games.”
Team Canada’s last game in the round robin is Monday Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. against Team Iroquois at the Langley Events Centre.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Clark about tomorrow’s game. “Team Iroquois has traditionally been our toughest competition. There’s a lot of talent when those two teams get on the floor. We’re going to be pushed. It’s going to be a tough game. It’s always fun to see how the guys respond.”
The Canadian Men’s Box Lacrosse Team had a morning shoot around with Team Austria.
“It’s important for growing this tournament. I was speaking with one of the Austrian coaches and they want to see what it looks like from our perspective,” said Clark. “They want to play against us and see what the speed, pace and skill looks like. It helps their development and it’s good outreach. It’s important for development on the international stage.”
