Lacrosse Canada Announces Sixes Officiating Pilot Program
Oshawa, ON - Lacrosse Canada is excited to announce the launch of its Sixes Officiating Pilot Program, designed specifically for officials coming from another discipline of lacrosse who are interested in learning about the unique specifics of the Sixes discipline. As lacrosse continues to evolve, this program provides an excellent opportunity for experienced officials to expand their knowledge and contribute to the growth of Sixes, which is set to become a key format in future lacrosse events.
The Sixes Officiating Pilot Program is open to officials who are fully certified in another discipline of lacrosse, but who are not in their first year of certification. This ensures that participants have a strong foundational understanding of the game before they dive into the specifics of Sixes lacrosse officiating.
The program content will be delivered over two sessions. The first session will be self-led through Lacrosse Canada’s online platform, providing participants with a thorough understanding of the rules, strategies, and nuances of officiating Sixes lacrosse. The second session will be a virtual group session, where participants can engage with instructors and fellow officials, ask questions, and review case studies related to officiating in this unique format.
Our virtual group sessions will be offered at the following times, with participants able to choose one option that works best for their schedule:
Wednesday, April 16th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET
Wednesday, April 23rd from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET
The cost to participate in the program is $50, which includes access to both the self-led online session and the virtual group session. Upon completion of the pilot program, Lacrosse Canada will gather feedback from participants to assess the program’s effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. Based on this feedback, Lacrosse Canada intends to launch additional deliveries of the program, continuing to support officials and foster the development of the Sixes format.
