OTTAWA, ON—Lacrosse Canada is thrilled to announce the selections for the coaching staff of the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 World Championships. Emily Boissonneault, Rachael McKinnon, Kaylin Morissette, and Kylee White have been named as assistant coaches.
Head Coach Allison Daley has compiled a talented group of coaching staff, with domestic and international coaching and playing experience. Boissonneault and Morissette were members of the coaching staff that led the 2019 U19 team to a silver medal finish. White was a member of the 2007 U19 women’s coaching staff.
“I am beyond excited to work alongside and learn from this coaching staff. Each coach brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge and collectively we will work hard to bring a gold medal back to Canada,” said Daley. “Not only are they great coaches, but they are great people and will be excellent mentors and role models for these young athletes.”
The group will spend the next year putting together a team of Canada’s best U20 female field players, in pursuit of a gold medal.
Previously a U19 event, the age limit has been increased by World Lacrosse to account for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The location and dates of the championship have yet to be announced. More information about selection camps for Team Canada will be announced in coming months.
Allison Daley, Head Coach (Peterborough, Ont.)
Allison Daley makes her debut as head coach for Canada, after previous assistant coaching stints with the U19 and Senior WNT. The University of Louisville assistant coach appeared as a goaltender for Canada in the 2017 Women’s World Championship and World Games.
Daley played and served as head coach at her alma mater, Canisius College. An elite goaltender and team captain, Daley was the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and earned MAAC Tournament MVP honours after leading Canisius to their first conference title in 2011. Daley was the program’s first IWLCA all-region selection and graduated holding school records for career saves (662) and goals against average (11.66)
Emily Boissonneault, Assistant Coach (Brooklin, Ont.)
Emily Boissonneault returns as an assistant coach with the U19 women’s program, following a storied international playing career. The Pitt head coach has been a member of four silver medal-winning national teams, and the Canadian women’s first gold at The World Games in 2022.
Boissonneault is currently the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to this, she spent four seasons on the coaching staff at James Madison, helping guide the Dukes to three Colonial Athletic Association [CAA] Conference Championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances, and the 2018 National Championship. Following her college career at Detroit Mercy, Boissonneault’s name is etched in the NCAA lacrosse record books as she ranks in the top 20 in career-caused turnovers, caused turnovers per game, and career goals. She was inducted into the Detroit Mercy Athletics Hall of Fame in November 2019.
Rachael McKinnon, Assistant Coach (Brooklin, Ont.)
Rachael McKinnon makes her coaching debut for Canada, following a long stint with Team Ontario. A current assistant coach with the Ontario Tech University women’s lacrosse team, she also leads a number of community development programs in the Durham Region. McKinnon has previously coached at Robert Morris and Franklin Pierce in the NCAA. An alumna of Denver, McKinnon set records for goals, games played, and NCAA tournament goals. She helped Denver to their first two NCAA tournament appearances and their first conference championship.
McKinnon has played and coached both box and field lacrosse, growing up playing box lacrosse with the Whitby Warriors and field lacrosse with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights. In 2022, she was an assistant coach of the 17U Ontario Girls Box team that won the first-ever women’s gold medal in the Canada Summer Games, as well as the Head Coach of the 2022 U19 National Champions, Team Ontario.
Kaylin Morissette, Assistant Coach (Courtice, Ont.)
Kaylin Morissette returns as assistant coach of the U19 women’s program, following a silver medal finish in 2019. The University of Louisville assistant coach has represented Canada as a player in four world championships, and as a coach in one. She is an alumna of the U19 program, winning bronze and being named to the All-World team in Hanover, Germany in 2011.
Morissette has represented Canada in the 2013, 2017, and 2022 silver-medal-winning senior national teams, and was named to the All-World team in 2022. She was also a member of the 2017 World Games silver medal team. A Louisville alumna, Morissette was a three-time All-American and set the program record for draw controls in a single game, season, and career.
Kylee White, Assistant Coach (London, Ont.)
White returns as an assistant coach with the U19 program, following her stint with the 2007 fourth-place Canadian national team. She was a member of the inaugural 1995 U19 Canadian National Team, which finished fourth in the first world championship. White (née Reade) grew up playing box lacrosse with the London Blue Devils, taking up field lacrosse the year before she joined the Canadian National team. She played in four World Championships for Canada, in 2001 and 2005, she helped Canada to a pair of fourth-place finishes. White led the Canadians to their first bronze medal in 27 years in the 2009 World Championship and propelled them to a silver medal in the 2013 World Championships.
A four-year letter winner at Ohio State, White (formerly Kylee Reade) was an Academic All-Big Ten performer on three occasions. She co-captained the 2002 squad earning Ohio State's first NCAA bid. White still ranks among the OSU all-time leaders in caused turnovers and ground balls. White has coached at Stanford, Ohio State, and Loyola University Maryland before landing at San Diego State University in 2010, where she began the women’s lacrosse program and has been their only head coach since.
