The Marketing Assistant will work directly with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator on social media content creation and promotions, brand consistency, stakeholder buy-in, National Championships and gender equity and safe sport initiatives. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Lacrosse Canada staff are working remotely; this position will be remote for the foreseeable future with the possibility of working in the office at a later date if the candidate is located in Ottawa, Ontario.

For a complete job description, please see below. All applications (including a resume and cover letter) should be submitted to Victoria Klassen, Communications and Marketing Coordinator, by email (victoria@lacrosse.ca) by May 20, 2021 at noon (EST).

PURPOSE

Lacrosse Canada launched a new brand in March 2021 with a new name, new logo, new website, and new merchandise. The main task of the Marketing Assistant will be to assist with marketing and promotion related to new programming and developments directly related to the re-brand. The Marketing Assistant will assist all staff, but primarily the Communications and Marketing Coordinator with social media and promotions, brand consistency, stakeholder buy-in, National Championships and gender equity/safe sport initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media and Promotions: tasks will include creating and scheduling engaging social media content, ensuring consistency across all platforms, coordinating brand partnerships with National Team players, planning, and executing giveaways.

Brand Consistency: tasks will include communicating with sponsors and stakeholders to ensure the Lacrosse Canada brand is being adopted and used appropriately, updating documents and formatting to reflect the new brand standards, media monitoring to ensure that any references to Lacrosse Canada are current, and reviewing materials to ensure brand consistency on material in both official languages.

Stakeholder Buy-in: tasks will include brainstorming creative ideas to generate excitement surrounding the new brand, assisting with design and selection of branded clothing to sell in the organization’s online store, and fostering meaningful relationships in the online lacrosse community.

National Championships: tasks will include assisting our National Championships group with seamlessly integrating the new brand with our existing 12 National Championships while assisting with the coordination of our next season of National Championships, whether that be 2021 or 2022.

Gender Equity and Safe Sport Initiatives: tasks will include assisting with Lacrosse Canada’s federally funded focus on gender equity initiatives and safe sport training. Lockdowns across the country have shifted most of our programming to virtual. We are in the final stages of planning various initiatives (i.e., women in coaching clinic, safe sport training for all staff and volunteers) and the Marketing Assistant will assist in ensuring that these program documents reflect a modern Lacrosse Canada and represent the positive relationship being fostered with our online community.

Other duties as assigned by the Lacrosse Canada staff.
